A great cheeseburger without the bottom bun which means fewer carbs, right? We loved this, and I think I loved it the most since I could of, but didn’t, eat the whole thing. Everything about it tasted like a cheeseburger!

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1/2 cup onion, diced
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 3/4 cup ketchup
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons yellow mustard
  • 3/4 cup dill pickle, chunky diced
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 can crescent rolls, 8 oz.
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 2 tablespoons sesame seeds

Step 1:  Clean and Preheat Dutch Oven.  Brown the ground beef and drain then remove from Dutch Oven.

Step 2:  In Dutch Oven, add olive oil or my favorite Bacon Grease.  Sauté the onion & garlic.

Step 3:  Return Beef to Dutch Oven with onions. Mix it well.  Season with salt & pepper. Next add ketchup, mustard, pickle, & water; mix well. Simmer 3-4 minutes.

Step 4: When done smooth out meat mixture & Sprinkle with cheese.

Step 5:  Unroll crescent rolls over the top, pinching seams together. The outside edges may not be covered all the way but that is perfectly fine. Brush with beaten egg and then sprinkle with sesame seeds.

Step 6:  Bake at 375 degrees 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.  If need you can add more briquettes to the top of your Dutch Oven at the end if the crescent rolls are not brown enough for you. If you are using briquettes you should have 17 on top and 10 on the bottom around the edges.  When you see steam coming out from under the lid it is done!
