Dutch Oven Moose
Moose-balls: 1/2 Cup Bread Crumbs 1/2 teaspoon Salt 1 1/2 pounds Ground Moose Meat 1 Egg 1/2 teaspoon Thyme 1 Small Onion, chopped fine Directions: Mix bread crumbs, salt, ground meat, egg, thyme, and onion until well blended. Shape into 1 inch balls. Place in 12" regular or deep dutch oven, this will depend on how many balls you make and how big your balls are, Brown; remove and drain. Soup: 1 Onion, chopped 3/4 Cup sliced, fresh mushrooms or 1 small can of mushrooms 1 Tablespoon Olive Oil 2 Cans Beef Broth 1 Can Stewed Tomatoes 5 Red Potatoes with skins left on, cube Directions: In the same dutch oven used for meatballs, saute onions and mushrooms in olive oil. Add beef broth, stewed tomatoes, and potatoes. Bring to a simmer add the browned Moose-balls. Simmer until potatoes are done, 30 to 40 minutes. If you just wait for the smell or the steam coming out from under the lid that will tell you when its done too!!!!
