Fresh Cranberry Dump Cake

This simple cranberry dump cake uses just a few ingredients for a fast and delicious dessert idea.

 

  • 3 cups of fresh cranberries
  • 1/2 cup of fresh cranberries for garnish
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 box 15 oz white cake mix
  • 3/4 cup butter sliced thinly
  • 2 tablespoons of superfine sugar
  • can of whipping cream

 

Instructions

Clean & Preheat Dutch Oven to 350 degrees F.

  1. Rinse cranberries and pick out any bad berries or stems.
  2. Make some sugared cranberries for garnish by placing 1/2 cup of berries in a small bowl. Dust with 2 tablespoons of superfine sugar and set aside.
  3. Combine the remaining 3 cups of cranberries, water, and 1/2 cup granulated sugar into a saucepan.
  4. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes.
  5. Remove pot from heat and allow to cool for a few minutes.
  6. Place cranberries in your 12” Dutch Oven
  7. Sprinkle the entire box of cake mix over the cranberry layer. Use the back of a spoon or offset spatula to even out the cake mix.
  8. Place slices of butter evenly all over the cake mix.
  9. Bake for 30 – 40 minutes until the top is golden brown.
  10. 15 Briquettes on the top and 10 Briquettes on the bottom
  11. Serve with whipped cream and sugared cranberries.

You can use different kinds of cake mix, such as yellow or lemon.

Can I use frozen cranberries? — Yes. Just make sure that you drain them well after defrosting.
