Gingerbread Dutch Oven Recipe

To make a classic, moist gingerbread in a Dutch oven, you can follow this recipe, which results in a cake-like gingerbread. The recipe is easily adaptable for both a conventional oven using a Dutch oven or for outdoor cooking with coals

½ cup butter
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
½ cup molasses
¼ cup honey
1 ½ cup flour
½ tsp. salt
1 tsp. ginger
2 tsp. baking powder
In a 12″ dutch oven grease and warm it slightly. Cream butter and add sugar. Beat until light & fluffy. Add eggs, beat well. Mix ¾ cup boiling water, molasses and honey. Blend well, mix together flour, soda, salt & ginger. Add to creamed mixture, then add honey mixture & combine well. Pour into dutch oven and bake for 35 minutes at 350, or until done. Will pull from sides of oven. Serve warm with whipped cream.
